Finding Joy in Creating
February is here and I am happy to be done with January! I’ve been busy with my illustration goals and I’m excited to share some here. It’s been really fun to try out a bunch of different styles and see what feels the most like me. I’m still figuring that out but it’s amazing to learn how robust Procreate is and how much you can do with it.
Until this year, most of my illustration work has been in Adobe Illustrator. I still love the vector based work because I am notoriously indecisive on composition and color. It gives me the freedom to resize, change up without worrying about losing quality.
Procreate has been more of a learning curve for me but the freedom to draw almost naturally with the Apple Pencil has been really great. They both are great and I use them both together and it has made my skills in illustration improve a ton!
Kickstart Creativity with Lisa Bardot
I have finished part one of Kickstart Creativity and it has been so joyful! I have loved learning all about the little tips and tricks of Procreate, the use of different brushes and how they change the style of a piece and everything in between. I can feel myself getting more confident in my skills, though I still have a ways to go.
I love that the tutorials are these bite sized lessons (15-20 min) each and it makes it really easy to meet my goal of drawing something everyday. I’m excited to continue on and see what doors open in the future :)
I have come to learn that creating for me is an essential part of who I am. It brings so much joy to my life and I can feel the negative effects if I don’t find the time to create. This course has been the perfect outlet, especially on those crazy days where everything goes wrong.
I hope you find your own source of joy in your life and hold on tight to that.
‘Til next time!
